The Korea Republic which will be travelling to Brazil this summer to play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup had its squad unveiled on Thursday this week.
Hong Myungbo who is the head coach of Korea republic is said to have named a squad that is indeed youthful. Park Chu-young who is the striker of Arsenal but on loan is part of the 23 man squad.
The Arsenal star currently at Watford was named into the squad due to his appealing performance more so international. Park who will be flying Korea republic flag has to date a total of 24 goals in 62 matches which is good performance.
His performance was also seen when he scored the winning goal when they faced Greece during a friendly match that took place in March. The Myungbo’s 23 man squad has a total of 9 Europe based international players.
Park who is aged 28 and his teammates Kwak taehwi aged 32 are the only older players in the Korea Republic’s squad.
The other superstars that have been included in the squad are Son Heung-min who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, Mainz’s Koo Ja-cheol, Ki Sung-yueng who plays for Sunderland, Cardiff City player Kim Boyyung without forgetting Lee Chungyong who is Bolton Wanders’ player.
Some of the players who did not feature in the Hong’s squad are Lee Keunho who is the 2012 Asian Player of the Year and Kim Shinwook. A total of 6 domestic players did not make it into the Korea Republic’s squad that will be travelling to Brazil for the summer tournament.
Hong, Korea Republic’s coach said that the squad consist of very young players who in deed do not lack experience since they have been playing in the leagues that are really competitive.
Hong Myungbo adds that although it may not be the best squad ever for the World Cup they will work extra hard to put Korea republic in a place where all her fans will be happy. Korea Republic is in group H with Russia, Algeria and Belgium.
