Steven Gerrard who is the captain of England national team has said that all his attention have shifted from Liverpool who suffered great disappointment of not lifting the premier league trophy to leading England in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Liverpool which is the club Gerrard plays for in the last three matches were on top of the ranking table and their hopes for lifting the trophy were shattered when they were defeated by Chelsea and a 3-3 draw when they faced Crystal palace.
Gerrard said that he will only take the positives from his club into the 2014 FIFA World Cup and more so their opening match against Italy.
The England captain said that he is aware people want to know what is in his mind more so after the slip that happened to him during their game against Chelsea.
Gerrard said that though he was personally disappointed, he has been able to overcome all these. He also said that people have to take into consideration of the positives they have had as a club.
They have been able to return the Champions league football and also been able to finish second in the most competitive league in across the world. He says that he can’t only be turned back by a mistake he has only done in a total of 38 games.
He says that he is now set, fresh and excited for the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. He adds that this is the most important part of preparation and one has to be in the right condition before their opening match against Italy.
Gerrard together with his vice are the only senior players in the England 23 man squad that was named by Roy Hodgson. This are the players that the England boss will rely on to offer help to the youngstars that are the majority in the 23 man squad.
The captain said that they want to make the likes of Ross Barkley, Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw enjoy the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In a total of 45 appearances, Gerrard has netted 16 times plus 14 assist goals.
