The Barcelona superstar, Andres Iniesta is optimistic that Spain will continue to perform even better in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. He however issued a caution about England, a team he says should not be underrated at all.
He said that Roy Hodgson team is amongst the favourite teams participating in the summer tournament. Iniesta is remembered as the player who scored the winning goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. Spain played Netherlands in the final match of the 4 years ago world cup.
In 2012, Iniesta gave a helping hand for Spain in defending the European Championship title they had won the previous year. The 30 years old superstar says that his team has the potential to clinch the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He however said that it won’t be an easy task since they will be rejoicing for the title they won four years ago. When talking to Daily Mail, Iniesta said that it was the best feel ever winning the 2010 World Cup.
He said that the happiness was not only personal based but also extended to the whole Spanish team and its supporters. He further said that that is the best moment a person ever wishes to have. Iniesta said that after netting for Spain, all he wanted was the referee to end the match through a whistle blow.
As they head to Brazil for the summer tournament, Iniesta admits there are a lot of challenges they have to face as a team despite the fact of being defending champions. Iniesta hopes that their winning spirit continue all the way to the 2014 World Cup.
He adds that it’s the newest challenge being in Brazil as the defending champions for both 2010 World Cup and European Championship.
Iniesta says that there is no big difference on how they are compared to 4 years ago. He also insists that the players must be aware that while they are celebrating for having one world cup title, Brazil is a team that has a total of 5 World Titles in their store.
