Wayne Rooney who is part of the England squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup is determined that the youngsters that were included in Roy Hodgson’s squad may pull a surprise and even reach the final stages of the tournament.
The Manchester United superstar admits that the young and talented players that Hodgson selected have no experience more so when it comes to major tournaments. He also agrees that he is not sure of how the youngstars will perform at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Rooney however says that the likes of Luke Shaw, Daniel Sturridge and even Adam Lallana are the players when you work with will bear good fruits. Rooney says that the major weakness the squad suffers is that there are many players who have absolutely no experience when it comes to international football tournaments.
He says that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is an excitement to his side since no one is a bit sure of how England will carry themselves in Brazil during the world Cup. When asked to comment on how he hopes they will perform, Rooney said he totally have no idea.
He however said that they may perform extremely well and even move to the latter stages of the tournament. He says that the quality and potential the squad is having is great.
Wayne Rooney is among the few players in the 23 man squad for England with Experience when it comes to international tournaments. He has made a total of 89 appearances internationally and agrees that he has the role to guide the youngstars.
He said that he was the youngest player in the 2004 Euro Championship and pulled surprise. He therefore want to work together with Frank Lampard and Steve Gerrard so as to pass the knowledge and experience to the young and talented players of England.
Rooney says that he need to end the thirst of scoring at the world Cup and is determined to perform very well in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
