The England captain Steven Gerrard want his teammate from Liverpool, Luis Suarez to miss in the team that will be playing against England in their opening match. Uruguay and England are scheduled to clash during the first matches in the group levels.
Gerrard however says that Suarez should make a return later in the World Cup. During the last game of Liverpool against Newcastle in the Premier League, the Uruguay superstar suffered a knee injury that later led to him undergoing a minor operation.
Suarez who’s now 27 years old finished the Premier league on a high note by clinching the top scorer awards. He scored a total of 31 goals for Liverpool. The superstar however is optimistic that come 14th June, he will be fit so as to play their opening match against Costa Rica.
On 19th June is when they will play against England. However, the doctors who carried the operation said that Suarez has no complications and will be fit for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He will although miss the friendly matches of Uruguay against Slovenia and Ireland that are scheduled to take place before the kickoff of the summer tournament. Gerrard has been a teammate of Suarez for close to 4 years now at Liverpool and knows that he is a threat whenever present.
He therefore hopes that when the superstar will be absent in their clash with Uruguay, they do have high chances of winning. Gerrard said that his miss out will be an advantage to England although he is wishing him a quick recovery.
Gerrard adds that he hopes the player be fit when they begin a new season at Liverpool. On the other hand, Uruguay are needed by Hodgson’s men in the Uruguay vs. Italy clash in the final group stage matches.
This is the match that Gerrard wants Luiz Suarez to be present. He however adds that for Suarez missing the 2014 FIFA World Cup, it will be a very big blow to him.
