Stephen Keshi who is the head coach of Nigeria national team that is also part of the 32 national teams that are participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup announced a squad with 30 players that is said to be provisional.
In this 30 man provisional squad, the 23 best players will be selected so as to represent the country in the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals that will be held in Brazil.
The 52 years old coach has to make the announcement of the final squad not later than 2nd June which is a deadline set by the world football governing body FIFA.
Of the 30 players, Chelsea has produced three who include Victor Moses that is at Liverpool on loan, John Obi Mikel and Kenneth Omeruo who is currently at Middleborough on loan too.
After settling their scores with Keshi, Peter Odemwingie who plays the striker position at Stoke City has been included in the preliminary squad without forgetting Joseph Yobo, the 30 years old Fenerbahce star but currently on loan at Norwich City since January.
On the other hand, Efe Ambrose who is the centre back of Celtic is also part of the unveiled 30 man list. Those who have been omitted in the provisional squad include Sone Aluko and Obafemi Martins who is the Newcastle’s former player.
Nigeria is placed in group F where they will face Argentina, Iran and Bosnia & Herzegovina at the group levels. Nigeria who are also the winners of 2013 African Cup of Nations will have their first match against Iran on 16th June in Curitiba.
The other players who are part of the squad include Vincent Enyema, Austin Ejide, Chogozie Agbim and Daniel Akpeyi as goalkeepers. The defenders are 8 in total and some include Elderson Echiejile, Kenneth Omeruo and Juwon Oshaniwa.
The midfielders’ position has the likes of Ramon Azeez, Nnamdi Oduamadi among other 8 stars. Finally, the forward players are 8 in total with the likes of Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and Uche Nwofor.
