Roy Hodgson: The England Fans Have Their Attention On Wayne Rooney

With the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicking off in the next 19 days, the England boss Roy Hodgson is much aware that all the attention in his 23 man squad will be focused on Wayne Rooney.

Hodgson said that the superstar is preparing to perform the best of him in the upcoming summer tournament. In the 2006 world cup when England face Portugal, Rooney was not allowed to play due to fitness related issues. He also four years ago in South Africa received disappointment.

What I mean is he has never played a full World Cup without any issue uprising. The England superstar who plays in forward position is now putting more effort into the training sessions they are having ahead of the much waited 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He is doing so to stay fit for the whole tournament being held in Brazil. Hodgson admitted that his player will be under a lot of pressure especially from the fans and supporters of England. They do expect him to deliver to their expectations.

However, the England boss is confident that Rooney won’t disappoint the fans. He said that Rooney has the ability to do well and knows that he is a very good player. Hodgson said that Rooney already is aware that all England eyes are on him in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Roy said that Rooney was present at the Portugal training camp and has always been in the training sessions. Hodgson said that Rooney was unhappy when he was left out of the training session that was on Wednesday.

He said that his omission was with the aim of protecting his ailing thigh because the session that day involved a lot of shooting. In this current season, Wayne Rooney has scored a total of 21 own goals in 43 appearances with 16 assist goals.

The Hodgson squad has been training to make sure that they won’t be affected by the much heat during their first match that will be held in Manaus.
