Roy Hodgson who is the manager of England has assured the fans and supporters that Steven Gerrard fitness is to the latter. He also said that Alex Oxlade Chamberlin rehabilitation and recovering process is going on well.
In the first training sessions of England, Gerrard the captain has been exempted from heavy works on Monday, a day after their arrival in Brazil. It was reported that the superstar was suffering from groin related problem.
However, when Hodgson the boss of England was addressing a press conference in Rio de Janeiro said that Chamberlain will be featured in starting XI against Italy on Saturday. Hodgson says that in the training session that was done on Monday, the players who did not feature in the final warm up match on Saturday were also allowed to train.
He also said that other players participated in the warm down session. He further said that Steven Gerrard intensified his training sessions more so at the end. He insisted that the captain is totally fit for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
On the other hand, Oxlade who is the player of Arsenal has been nursing an injury he got during the second last friendly match they played against Ecuador in the course of last week. The England boss said that he is impressed by the progress displayed by the young superstar who is in the 23 man final squad for the summer tournament.
Roy says that the progress is positive and with a week ahead of him, he will improve on his performance too.
Hodgson however says that he is not in the position to determine when the player will be fit as it all involves the medics department of the team who say that the fitness of the Arsenal superstar is not assured for the second match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
There are no other injuries reported from Hodgson’s men and they are a happy lot as they pride to have a squad that is healthy.
