By Adnan Januzaj choosing to play for Belgium in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, England’s player Roy Hodgson do believe that the forward player at Manchester United has made the correct decision.
Januzaj who was at first eying a place in England’s squad had to wait until 2018 so as to be granted that chance of wearing a white shirt.
On the other hand, the 19 years old star had his chance at Belgium. Januzaj opted to play for Belgium since it is the country he was born in although he had also the option of playing for Kosovo, Albania, Serbia or even Turkey.
Roy Hodgson, the England’s coach said that the fact that Januzaj is not English, he had to be eligible to play for England in 2018. That is according to the FIFA’s current rules. Hodgson adds that it would be unfair for Januzaj to put his commitment to England.
Hodgson says there is no problem for the decision made by the young international star. Roy is not even disappointed by the matter more so Belgium being the place where Januzaj was born hence is currently eligible to play there.
Hodgson said that the story could be different if Januzaj could be available to play for England but pass the opportunity and let him play for Belgium. It will be relevant only until 2018 as Hodgson puts it.
Marc Wilmots, the Belgium’s manager has made a confirmation that Januzaj has high chances to be part of the preliminary squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Finals.
When talking to Het laatste Nieuws, Wilmots said that the qualities of Januzaj has been showcased in a total of 27 games that he has played for Manchester United.
Wilmots said that Januzaj ability to play as a striker and also on the wings is an advantage to him as Christian Benteke will not be available due to the injury he is currently suffering.
Wilmots adds that he is determined to see the performance of Januzaj on the training pitch as this is the place where one shows what he got.
