Cesare Prandelli who is the coach of Italy national team will have his contract expire immediately after the end of the 2014 FIFA World Cup of which Italy is participating.
However, Giancarlo Abete who is the football chief of Italy said that the current coach will be signing a 2 years extension contract as the coach. He further said that Cesare’s contract extension does not at all depend on the success of Italy in the 2014 FIFA World Cup championship.
This contract that will be signed in the course of this month will mean that Cesare will lead Italy into the European Championship scheduled in 2016.
During an interview with Anch’io Lo Sport radio, the president of Italian Football Federation said that this renewal is due to what the coach has achieved for Italy national team.
Cesare has been the coach for this team since the 2010 World Cup that was hosted in Brazil and where Italy was eliminated in the first round. Cesare who is now 56 years old also led the national team through the finals of the 2012 Euros and lost to Spain after a 4-0 clash.
In the confederations Cup tournament, Italy finished in the third position after losing to Spain at the semifinal level. Italy reached the World Cup after having the unbeaten record during the qualification matches.
It is with all these achievements that Abete believes that Prandelli is indeed genuinely fit for this new deal. Abete added that as the Football Federation of Italy, they do have a lot of trust in the 56 years old coach.
Today in the European championship, it’s only Juventus as the Italian side team remaining in the competition.
The leaders of Serie A will be facing Benfica during the Europa League semifinals in the course of the month. Prandelli team is in group D and will be having their opening match on 14th June in Manaus.
