Stoke City’s Striker Peter Crouch believes Wayne Rooney will be on pressure during this world cup tournament

England on Monday this week unveiled its 30 man squad under the leadership of Roy Hodgson with 7 standby players. With the naming of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Squad, Peter Crouch has said that Wayne Rooney will be under pressure to deliver for his national team at the summer’s tournament.

This is due to the named squad consisting of youngstars that are talented but most of them have never played at the world cup before. Rooney who plays in the striking position at Manchester United has always taken care of England‘s expectation in the past 4 major tournaments but is yet to give light to any international event.

All this is however expected to change especially with Hodgson as the England’s boss. The youngstars such as Ross Barkley, Raheem sterling, Alex Oxlade Chamberlin are expected to put their best of their talent during the 2014 FIFA World Cup which will be finally a benefit to Rooney.

Peter Crouch during an interview said that the young stars will have not to put into consideration people’s respect but go to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and do the best of themselves.

The Stoke City player adds that in the 2006 and 2010 World cups, Rooney has always been under pressure from the fans and supporter. He said that it was believed that when Rooney was in form then England will clinch the world cup title.

Crouch is happy that the squad now consists of other players who are also well talented. He adds that less has been talked about Rooney in this year’s world cup and he believes it will make the Manchester United striker enjoy his football.

Crouch says that the young stars will go into the 2014 FIFA World Cup with no fear and is optimistic that the lack of experience will be beneficial to them.

He finalizes by saying that the Liverpool players Sterling and Sturridge should go with the freedom of playing they have at the club into the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
