Riccardo Montolivo said he is now much focused on the 2014 FIFA World Cup after his campaign with AC Milan turned out sour. In the Serie A league, AC Milan ended the season in position 8 and did not qualify for the European football.
This is the first time Milan is missing out since 16 years ago. The last title AC Milan was in 2008 which is three years old. Montolivo who is also the captain of AC Milan said that they have to be prepared enough come the next season.
However, what matters now is the 2014 FIFA World Cup as the next season for AC Milan will commence after the summer tournament comes to the end. Montolivo is optimistic that he will do great for Italy, which is his national team.
When talking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Montolivo said that he is going into the summer tournament much charged up. He said that the bad season he has had will not affect him at all negatively.
The AC Milan captain said that the last season campaign did not impress any of the players and even the supporters. Montolivo however said that all they need is being able to learn from the previous mistakes and come extra hard in the coming season.
He said that he is hoping that all goes well with his national team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 29 years old superstar made a debut into the senior team in the year 2007 after spending some time at the youth team.
He is now focused to erase the embarrassment his national team suffered four years ago in South Africa. The Italy superstar has netted twice in a total of 57 appearances for Italy national team. He said that they do have a chance as Italy to clinch the fifth FIFA World Cup title.
Montolivo hopes that he will make it into the 23 man final squad for Italy and make his national team proud. Italy is in group D of 2014 fifa world cup with Uruguay, England and Costa Rica.
