Giancarlo Abete who is the president of Italian Football Federation is defending Mario Balotelli who is the striker of AC Milan on the matters of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
We barely have close to 40 days to the start of the World Cup and word over the local media has spread questioning the probability of Balotelli being included in the Italian squad for the summer’s tournament in Brazil.
The 23 years old striker in the last 5 games of AC Milan has only netted twice. In the 2-0 defeat at Roma on Friday, Balotelli even got a replacement. It was during a TV interview that Balotelli shown his frustration more so about his performance.
He was seen arguing with the guests that were present in the studio that day. When Abete talked to Gazzetta dello Sport he said that he believes in Cesare Prandelli who is the coach of Italy and added that it was indeed a difficult moment for Mario Balotelli.
Abete further added that the Italian national team coach, Prandelli still has the time and even capacity that can be used to bring Balotelli back into a condition that is optimal.
Abete said that a lot of consideration has to be placed on the player since he is very beneficial despite controversies that surround him.
He also said that people should remember that in the Euro 2012 tournament semi-final against Germany, Balotelli was able to score 2 goals for his national team Italy.
He believes that Balotelli is a game changer. In the league to date, Balotelli has netted 14 times in a total of 27 appearances.
Italy which is part of the 32 teams for the 2014 FIFA World Cup is in group D and will begin their campaign on 14th June when they face England in Manaus city.
