When Mexico unveiled the 23 man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup it made an inclusion of Javier Hernandez who is the striker of Manchester United. Hernandez has indeed had a season full of frustration which made him have 6 premier league starting matches.
This news of him being part of the team that is travelling to Brazil has indeed made him happy and been a wakeup call for the Manchester United player.
In the forward position of the selected 23 man squad, there are a total of 7 players who are European based. This squad was unveiled by Miguel Herrera who is the manager of Mexico.
However, Carlos Vela who used to play for Arsenal and currently at Real Sociedad missed out a place into Miguel’s squad.
The Villarreal player Giovani dos Santos and also the former Tottenham superstar was included on the list not forgetting Hector Herrera and Diego Reyes who are the Porto duos.
Despite the fact that he was not in the limelight of Mexico since Miguel joined the national team as the head coach, Carlos Salcido who is a defender is part of the squad. The Veteran defender is said to have enough experience as he has now played twice for Mexico in the world cup.
Mexico qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup after recording victory when they faced New Zealand in the finals stages. Mexico at the 2014 FIFA World Cup is placed in group A which is very competitive.
This group consists of the hosting country Brazil, Africa’s finest Cameroon and Croatia. Mexico will play against Cameroon in their opening match that is scheduled on 13th of June before they take on Brazil and finally Croatia to close the group matches.
The team is however determined to posse a very good performance despite being in the group with the 5 times winners of the world cup.
