Last Sunday River Plate faced Velez Sarsfied at the Estadio Monumental which is the home stadium for River Plates. River Plates recorded a 1-0 victory against their counterparts and thus putting them even closer to the 2014 Argentinian Torneo Final Title that they are eying.

This will be the first trophy from the time the team was relegated in 2011 to the second division. Teofilo Gutierrez is the man behind the Victory River is getting for the last four game matches.

Teofilo who is the striker is said to be the one that pushed the club into the championship contention with very few matches remaining.

When Gutierrez spoke to a certain local TV station after the match came to an end, he said that the goal he scored was dedicated to his grandmother who was celebrating her birthday on that very same day.

The 28 years old striker said that the grandmother always made corn pancakes that helps him score more goals. He also talked to FIFA saying that the talent he has is just God given.

It is with these great qualities that Gutierrez was given a chance to play for Colombia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Uruguay. He was chosen ahead of Dorlan Pabon and Jackson Martinez by Jose Pekerman who is the head coach of Colombia.

Gutierrez said that since his early ages, his dream has always to play in the world cup and to date his focus is to play for Colombia in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

He however says that he has to work extra hard to have his team, River win the Argentinian title and also increase the chances of being in the Colombia’s squad for the world Cup in Brazil.

He further said that Colombia in the same group with Japan, Cote d’Ivoire and Greece may work to their side as the group is fair in performance. Teofilo also praised his coach at the national team as being someone you enjoy to work with.

He said that he will forever be grateful to the coach even if he does not play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
