Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm were welcomed by Joachim Low who is the coach of Germany into the training camp on Saturday 24th May before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Germany held a training session under closed doors on Saturday as part of the final preparations of the upcoming summer tournament.
The duo players came some days late into the training camp since they have been nursing injuries they suffered during the respective club matches. Lahm who is the captain of Germany has been nursing an ankle injury while Neuer the goalkeeper was suffering a shoulder injury.
Germany squad assembled in the North of Italy on Wednesday for a total of 10 days training camp. The duo who play for Bayern Munich were in Bavarian capital to receive treatment from the medical staffs of German Football Association under the leadership of Dr. Hans Wilhelm Mueller Wohlfahrt.
On the other hand, Per Mertesacker after his welcoming his second born was unable to join the squad on Wednesday but later did so on Saturday. Mesut Ozil suffered some cold that restricted him from training on Saturday.
The Germany boss said that it was great having the players back and the squad only misses Sami Khedira who is scheduled to join his teammates after playing for his club, Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League finals.
It was only on Saturday that the squad of Germany was able to hold the indoor training sessions. Low’s men will be having a match which they will face U-20 squad today Sunday. The Germany boss did not opt to replace Lars Bender who suffered a thigh injury on Friday.
Bender will not be fit to play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Lahm, Bastian and Neuer held their training sessions individually in the morning of Saturday as the rest of the squad were being led by Low in their paces.
Germany is scheduled to have to friendly matches before flying to Brazil. They will play Cameroon on June 1st and Armenia on the 6th day of June.
