The world football governing body, FIFA said that after Sepp Blatter saying that the decision made on the hosting of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as an error, the decision has now been interpreted wrongly.
Sepp Blatter who is FIFA’s president was addressing the RTS television reporters In Lausanne when he said that awarding the tournament to Qatar was such as a mistake due to the heat they experience during summer seasons.
Blatter said that a mistake can be made by anyone and there was a report already available stipulating that the climate of Gulf state was too hot. However, the executive committee members who were present voted in the favour of Qatar.
After this news reached the world, FIFA made a quick move aimed at clarify that their president meant during the addressing of reporters. FIFA has said that Blatter meant that it is practically difficult to have World Cup being held during the summer in Qatar since there is a lot of heat at this time of the year.
Qatar was found to be very hot after a research was carried out and a technical report drafted on this matter. FIFA adds that the FIFA president did not at any chance question on Qatar as being the hosts of the FIFA World Cup come 2022.
The decision to have the tournament take place in summer has to be reconsidered and the FIFA president said that the world cup may be shifted to winter which is cool season in Qatar. Blatter was also not in the support that Qatar won the hosting elections unfairly.
Blatter himself said that the voting was based on political factors. After beating South Korea, United States, Japan and Australia in the election, Qatar has received a lot of controversies on their eligibility to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It has also been claimed that the country has poor infrastructure.
