Glen Johnson who plays in the full back position for England says that after they lost on penalties to Italy during the 2012 Euro Championship, the whole team has made a great improvement as far as attacking skills are concerned.
The two teams will battle on the same ground during their opening match scheduled on 14th June. Two years ago when they mate they ended up in a goalless draw that lead to them moving to penalties.
It is at this stage that Italy defeated England hence securing their place in the semifinals of the 2012 Euros. Johnson is among the total 6 players of England who is on the starting XI against Italy, a match that will be played in Manaus this coming Saturday.
Johnson has issued a caution to Italy saying that his team is much prepared to deal with them as far as the attacking is concerned. When being interviewed, Johnson said that the team that played Italy the last time was good however they currently have players who have the best attacking skills ever.
He says that these are the players who will hurt Azzuri in the attacking category. He says that his teammates have made a great improvement in their pace which is a plus to them during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He further said that the state of England squad is just the best and more so defensively. He also said that the team as a whole should use their defending opportunities and pace very well as it will be an opening gate to the latter stages of the tournament.
This is the same squad that completed their warm up matches prior to the world cu with a barren draw against Honduras. Roy Hodgson’s men jetted to Brazil on Sunday in readiness of what awaits them ahead.
Raheem Sterling who is the winger of England did not take part in the Miami friendly after he was given a red card in the match they played against Ecuador. He is a player who Johnson hopes are directed to and he claims he can be a very useful weapon in Brazil.
