In the just unveiled 23 man final Spain squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Diego Costa who is the striker at Atletico Madrid has been included. The Atletico superstar has been suffering from a hamstring injury that has been a stumbling block in his football career.
Costa therefore had not had good time playing for his club, Atletico Madrid in the last season where they clinched the La Liga title and defeated by Real Madrid in the finals of the UEFA Champions League.
Costa in the UEFA Champions League was only able to play a total of 9 minutes and this gave worries to the concerned authorities as to whether he will be fit for the 2014 FIFA World Cup which is being played in the country he was born in.
Spain who are the defending champions of the world cup took Costa’s fitness to risk by making him part of the final 23 man squad. It is said that Costa’s presence means a lot to the team more in the upcoming summer tournament.
Vicente Del Bosque who is the manager of Spain has decided to cover Costa when it comes to the striking position. He has achieved this by including David Villa and Fernando Torres who are all experienced strikers.
This current season, Torres has not been vibrant at his club Chelsea and same to his counterpart Villa who has not been consistent at Atletico. The duo however have a total of 200 caps for their country and a total of 93 goals that are international rated.
The inclusion of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Xabi Alonso in the squad has depicted the powerful Spain which may again shake the world by winning their fourth world cup title.
David de Gea and Cesar Azpilicueta are the Manchester superstars who are hoping to perform well in Brazil despite this being their first world cup to play.
David Silva, Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata are the players who complete the squad from Premier League. Alvaro Negredo and Jesus Navas who are Manchester City players were left out of the final squad.
